ABOUT ME

I have been a school psychologist for over twenty years, and published my first Young Adult novel Waves Crashing in 2009. I am a New England girl at heart, growing up in Massachusetts, graduating from the University of Rhode Island, and then earning my graduate degrees at Tufts University in Massachusetts. However, I have lived in California since 2000 and love living here too. I have found that it has provided me balance in my perspective on life.

Working with children and adolescents for most of my life, I have come to know and appreciate the ever-changing world in which they live. There are so many challenges, emotions, heartaches, experiences and times of self-discovery. Over the years, while I know I have helped many, they have also taught me so much. I have been inspired to write novels that embrace that experience, as well as remind readers of their own empowerment, strength, and beauty within. Adolescence and young adulthood is a time filled with such angst, overwhelm and self-doubt. I hope to assuage some of that fear by supporting inner-strength and self-confidence.

Writing has been a hobby while working full time and raising my family. A few years have passed since Waves Crashing was published. I am compelled to write again. My goal now is to put more time and energy into building this part of my life so that the several books that are currently in the works can come to fruition, as well as more ideas still to come.

I am influenced by many factors in my life. In addition to the students I have been blessed to work with over the years, I am grateful for the support of my family and friends. I also draw upon my love of the ocean, nature, yoga, meditation, mindfulness, running, reading, music, travel, spending time with loved ones, and of course, writing.

I hope you enjoy my books and I look forward to hearing from you.
